Year Purchased: 2009
In May of 2010, my wife and I made the decision to completely
remodel the property. Known as Pappaw's Fishing Pad, it sits
alongside the river.
We love the water and it has always been our desire to have a
place on the water that we could offer for overnight rentals as well
as a place where our three grandchildren could enjoy - who love the
outdoors, water and all the things that go with those.
Previously, the property had been used for monthly rentals but we
thought this would be the best use, because when the unit is not
booked for a daily or weekly rental, we can use it ourselves and
enjoy our grandchildren here as well.
Meeting our guests and making sure they are comfortable is our
goal. We enjoy, so much, meeting the people, hearing the stories of
their lives, where they are from and about their own children and
grandchildren and of all of the good things that life holds.
We live only 10 miles away, but the river is such a beautiful
place to spend free time. No pressure and to just sit and
watch the water flow by, enjoying life to its fullest with our
grandchildren and friends.

Pappaw's Fishing Pad is just the right place to be with the
neighbors on the river, all of them friendly and willing to speak
and wave their hands as they go by.
We also have several great country eating places close by that
you can enjoy.
Pappaw's Fishing Pad is on the South Holston River and is only
about 75 feet from the water's edge and has over 300 feet of river
frontage. You can wade it all!
The river is approximately 150 feet wide, so you will have plenty
of fishing here. It is known as one of the best fishing spots
on the Holston.
We have a fire pit for added convenience and a picnic table
that's only 3 feet from the water's edge.
The lower property is very deep water filled with Rainbow and
Large Brown Trout. The fish venture up stream to the water's
edge of the property and that really makes for some great fishing
right off the bank as well.

WHY THE OWNERS CHOSE BLUFF CITY
After seeing the large Rainbow and Brown Trout on the Holston
River, we decided to find the best fishing spot that would also
serve as a rental or just be a relaxing place to unwind.
We chose the Pappaw's Fishing Pad location because of the easy
access to the river. There's lots of space to wade and catch
Big Brown and Rainbow Trout.
The river frontage is the best location on the river. Easy
access with plenty of good wading for fly or bait fishing. It
is just a beautiful place to be for fishing, family fun or just
relaxing with all the amenities.
Bluff City is only 6 miles to town.
Elizabethton is 10 miles.
Bristol is 5.
Johnson City is only 15 miles away.
The property is
located just 5 miles from Bristol Motor
Speedway but just far enough away to get
away from the crowds.
The Appalachian
Trail is located a few miles up the road
and Webb's Store is just minutes away
and serves good country meals.

Fly or bait fish one of the nation's best trout
rivers. The property is located on the banks of the South Holston
River, one of the best fishing locations of the entire river. There
is a fire pit along the river's edge to relax at night and tell the
stories of the big ones that got away, and the ones that didn't, or
just some extra fishing after dark.

We completely
remodeled the entire house and property
in the spring of 2010 and are very
pleased with the outcome. Many
improvements have been made since then,
as well.
Along with 300 feet
of river frontage, the house is only 75
feet from the front door of Pad #2 until
you put your feet in the water.
A fire pit and picnic table are located just
three feet from the water's edge. Pad#1 has a large deck and a
carport with overhead fans is located in front of Pad#2. With
table and chairs to watch the world go by, as well as large shade
trees along the river you're sure to enjoy just sitting back and
relaxing to watch the water's activities.
We also have an RV
Camper that fits nicely with Pappaw's
Fishing Pad. It too is also only
75 ft. from the water's edge. The
camper is available for people who
prefer the camping experience with all
the features of a fully equipped camper.
